Watch the Howe 2: Solo 1 online guitar lesson by Trey Alexander from Quantum Rock
Again we start with a melody and then fill it out with some cool minor and blues ideas. Greg Howe is one of my favorite guitarists and he is a master at this kind of stuff. Especially these types of changes. I want you to concentrate on the melody and then slow these blues rock riffs down and really get them under your fingertips. These will sound cool fast or slow, so just really enjoy every bit of them. I also experiment with sliding down the guitar instead of up. Steve Vai is phenomenal at this! This gives you a very dramatic falling effect. Try doing this with other licks in your trick bag. There are also some very cool unison bends. These are just elaborations on some of those timeless Chuck Berry riffs. You will also notice that I do a repeating pentatonic lick and then move down an octave each time I play it, this can present some great ideas as well.
