Watch the Bowers: Solo 2 online guitar lesson by Trey Alexander from Quantum Rock
Here we talk about how we can take the head and change the rhythm to give it a different feel. After that we will be doing a little bit of jamming. In this example I just felt it out and went with the groove. Everything past the head was improvisation, using small tid-bits of licks that I heard from years of playing. Sometimes this turns out cool and other times it can be a little crazy and unpredictable. This is by far my favorite way of playing, on the cuff and not knowing what is going to come next. So you see after learning all of these riffs and solos you want to somewhat internalize them so that you can listen and then let your fingers start walking through the different sounds that lurk in your mind. Kenny Werner a great master musician said “There are no wrong notes”, and if you listen close enough they all sound good in some way shape or form. Try and wake up with the mentality of, wow I am so lucky to be alive and I should feel so fortunate to have this beautiful instrument! I always try and think about that before I start my session. I hope you have enjoyed this course! If there is any advice that I could give it is to love what you do and enjoy every breath of it because our stay here is so short and sweet! Until next time take care and stay inspired!!
