Watch the Soloing Study #4 online guitar lesson by Jon Finn from Modal Rock Soloing

Something new happens in Section 3. Besides a slightly different chord structure, the section also demands that you pay attention to when the licks come. Also, it's strongly advisable that you actually play those licks in unison with the rhythm track. It means you have to be keenly aware of where you are in the track. Is the short lick next? Or the long one? Is it the 1st? 2nd? 3rd? 4th? You'll find it challenging to get it right. But once you do, you'll find that your phrasing will improve because your ears will naturally encourage you to wrap up your phrases before starting the lick. Practice baby! Practice!
