Watch the Soloing Studies online guitar lesson by Jon Finn from Modal Rock Soloing
Section 1 explains each of the modes and their characteristics clearly. But real music isn't static. Chords change, keys change, tempos, articulations, even styles. In order to best demonstrate the principles, we felt it was best to make the Section 2 examples sound more like real songs. There are six chord progressions. One for each mode (except Locrian, because it's so seldom used that we felt it best to put it aside in the interest of clarity and simplicity). Within each exercise, the chord progressions, keys, and phrase lengths do change. All of these are explained in detail in the "Rhythm Track Overview" segments. From there, each section is explained and demonstrated. Note that you can download each of the rhythm tracks so you can practice on your own.
