Watch the Strange Brew: Ex. 4a online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Kings of Rock & Roll Vol. 5: Eric Clapton
This example is played in a rocking groove similar to the Cream classic, in the key of A with the majority of the lines based on A minor pentatonic (A C D E G). The emphasis here is on all of the smooth transitions from one fretboard position to another, starting in eighth position, moving down to fifth, back up and then down to third. Notice also the subtle half- and quarter-step bends on the minor third, C, which serves to emphasize the bluesy feel of the lines.
