Watch the The I-V online guitar lesson by Ravi from Guitar Lab: 30 Rock & Pop Progressions
This is the second section of progressions, examining the ones that start with the I-V or a variation of it. Like the I-IV, the I-V is extremely popular in western music. If you play the I as a barre chord with a fifth string root and the V with a sixth string root, you don't have to change frets making the change easier. Also, try strumming with a palm mute to get a more aggressive rock feel. Just rest the side of your strumming hand across the bridge, slightly muting the strings, and down strum.
