Watch the Fingerboard Area Number 2 online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: Latin Rock Rhythm

In all of the previous lessons we've been playing the i chord with the A minor form. The root of this chord has always been on the fifth string. As guitarists, we generally used two areas of information as a starting point for playing both rhythm and lead: fifth string rooted information and sixth string rooted information. This lesson presents our new area of activity for the Dm chord. This area will be the Em form which will place our root on the sixth string in X position. Diagrams 10 through 15 will show the new layouts for all your scale options.
