Watch the Straight 8th "Heartbeat" online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: Boogie-Woogie

This lesson demonstrates the "heartbeat" approach of alternating between two voices and one voice. A straight eighth groove is used along with left hand staccato and a bit of palm mute. I will demonstrate with and without staccato in three keys: E, A and D all in open position. You will clearly hear how lifeless the boogie-woogie sounds when played without staccato. The left hand dampening is a bit tricky but well worth the effort.
