Watch the Harp Style Licks online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: Boogie-Woogie

This lesson presents harp-style one note-per-string layouts of the boogie-woogie utilizing the fourth string open as a drone. This will eliminate some extreme left hand stretching. The fourth string open is a D. If we treat it as the 5th that will place us in the key of G. If it functions as the 6th, we're in the key of F, and if it's the b7, we will be in E. Figures 20, 21, and 22 show the layouts on the fingerboard for these three licks. Because we are low in register, the root is implied.
