Watch the Purple: 8 online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from Guitar Cubed
Once more the free wrist reigns down on us here in Guitar 3 to solidify the relaxed vibe of Purple. With pitch modulation all over the place, Guitar 3 doles out some serious motivic development in the first eight bars in both melody AND rhythm. Following this first half of the 16 bar solo Guitar 3 whips out some advanced double stop lickage--a great way to beef up solo lines when playing with a gain-controlled tone such as this one. Be sure to watch the fingerings throughout the double stop playing as they’re crucial to making those licks come together smoothly. Finally, in bars 13 and 15 watch how my fret hand 4th finger is planted on the 13th fret C on the 2nd string while the remaining digits dance a gritty minor blues sounding line that in bar 14 recalls the original motive and in bar 16 jets out into some tasty octaves for the closer. There’s plenty to hone in on here so stay alert when viewing the next segment and as always have your charts close by!
