Watch the Dominator online guitar lesson by Tony Smotherman from 50 Power Pentatonic Licks You MUST Know

What do you get when you add a major 3rd to a minor pentatonic scale? We get this really cool dominant pentatonic scale, a fresh different way of playing where you would generally use your minor pentatonic. Take notice of the major 3rd on the 6th, 3rd, and first string. The shape is quite different what you might be used to; if you’re used to the traditional shape but after some practice it should feel comfortable underneath your fingers. This scale is closely related to the 5th mode, the Mixolydian.
