Watch the Crazy Fifths online guitar lesson by Tony Smotherman from 50 Power Pentatonic Licks You MUST Know

Remember the lick where we did the Root, Octave, Root, 5th and moved it in 4ths? Well this time we're going to do the same thing and move it through all the notes in the 12th position minor pentatonic scale. The result is an utterly wild way to play the same old 5 notes we call the pentatonic. If you’re like me you'll find hours of fun running though all kinds of scales you already use using this simple pattern and hybrid picking. The octave is what really makes these ideas stand out. You'll notice the shape can't stay the same when you reach the B string so we accommodate by shift up a half step.
