Watch the Down with the Disturbed online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from 50 Metal Guitar Licks You MUST Know
Dropped tunings afford you the ablilty to use legato techniques on power chords--an approach that would otherwise be impossible. Everyone from Pantera to Limp Bizkit to Linkin Park and back have fully exploited this very cool advantage. This riff takes influence from the work of another campaigner of dropped tunings, Don Donegan of Distrurbed, and his dropped D tuneage in the main riff to "Down with the Sickness" from The Sickness album. Laced with hammer-ons and pull-offs this riff is brutal, yet smooth at the same time.
