Playing melodically doesn’t necessarily have to be about single line playing. Finding melodic and rhythmic motifs within your rhythm part can really pop the chords to your new song. It’s all about finding a little "hook" or something catchy to incorporate into the chord changes. The simplest little nugget can bring a boring progression from eighth note drudgery to something really special. In this example, we are presented with a B major progression that started life as nothing special. After finding a little rhythm motif to add some sizzle it is really a different beast!
