Watch the Approach 1: Performance online guitar lesson by Adam Levy from Rhythm Makeover: Adam Levy

In Approach #1 we’ll use high-voiced triad shapes to outline the chord changes with a repeating two-bar rhythmic pattern. The top voice of the triads outlines a simple melody here, and that’s important to keep in mind - whether you intend it or not, the top notes of your chord voicing will be heard as a melody. Often we can create cohesive parts by thinking of a melody first, then hanging simple chord shapes underneath the melody notes.
