Vibrato (Like a Leslie) - Technique 16 is a video guitar lesson presented by Sonny Landreth and is sourced from Slide Supernatural.
One of the most important aspects of playing slide guitar is vibrato. It's huge and it's the way you develop and define your signature sound, and create your own voice. We can identify a lot of the greats by their vibrato and how they use it. It's important to think about and practice vibrato. I like to think of it as different speeds, slow, medium, and fast. For example a slow vibrato down on the lower frets can really set a nice mood. We can make the vibrato faster as we move up the fingerboard at add some more excitement and intensity. The physics of the guitar neck is very interesting, the fact that the distance between the frets gets smaller as we move up the neck is something we can use to our advantage with the width of the vibrato. A great exercise is to fret the note you wish to vibrato, then with the slide. Make sure the note you are adding vibrato to is in tune. Visually use the fret as your guide.
