Watch the Turkish Sands: 1 online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Play Rock Guitar 7: Style Diversity

Turkish Sands: 1 - Overview is a video guitar lesson presented by Tony Smotherman and is sourced from World Rock Guitar.

Turkish music is similar to other Middle Eastern styles, using fretless stringed instruments in the forefront of its traditional music. Turkey has a rich and colorful musical palette, certainly evoking everything we associate with exotic scales and melodies. Reeded instruments are usually present too, which we'll borrow our inspiration from on this Turkish melody, usually heard on a lead reed instrument like a Duduk. Our main scale in this piece is the harmonic minor, which can be played with many different styles due to its phrasing.
