The Man In Black - Performance is a video guitar lesson presented by Angus Clark and is sourced from Hard Rock Survival Guide: Rhythm.
Here's a great example of the accompaniment style you hear on classic Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Yngwie Malmsteen tracks. There's some organ on the track to get you in the vibe. The main riff is played in 4ths and can be played either with a pick or with your fingers. On the left hand you may choose to use your thumb to get the low G that the rest of the riff keeps bouncing off of. For the verse section we're playing root - fifth - octave, nice and tight with the drums. Watch how the left hand fingers are released as you hit the subsequent note. Blackmore is a very precise player - it's what makes those tracks timeless, just like a Beatles track. The precision is what you want.
