Watch the Putting Licks Together online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Play Jazz Guitar 2: Rhythm & Lead Fundamentals
Licks are usually small little phrases. So in order to make a solo, you need to be able to string many licks together to create a larger musical statement. As you work on putting some of these together you will notice a pattern. Two small licks put together now create one larger lick, and so on. This is how both your lick vocabulary and soloing skill can grow, but starting small and gradually expanding.
