Watch the Why Won't You Call Me? online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Play Country Guitar 4: Rhythm Approaches

Why Won't You Call Me? - Overview is a video guitar lesson presented by Jason Loughlin and is sourced from 1-2-3 Country.

Why Don't You Call Me is inspired by one of my favorite Vince Gill tunes. This is a straight up country rocker with a twist. The progression is not a simple I-IV-V. We start on the I chord and move up one and a half steps to the bIII chord. This ends up imparting more of a bluesy sound to the progression. As a soloist it really pushes us out of a position. We have two options of chord shapes to move to. This also means we have a lot of choices about where to play a lick. Don't get overwhelmed with options. Just pick one set of chord shapes at a time and master it. Then you can try out other combinations of chord shapes.
