Small Packages - Rhythm 18 is a video guitar lesson presented by Corey Congilio and is sourced from 50 Blues Rhythms You MUST Know.

Now that we've talked about the Colonel Chord, let's break it up into smaller shapes.

These smaller shapes are great for playing all rhythm guitar styles. The I chord focuses on the 3rd, 5th, and b7 chord tones. There is no root or A being played here. Get the thought in your head the the bass player can handle that. I'll continue to emphasize that as we progress. The IV and V chord are using the root, 3rd, and b7 sounds.

The 5th is a note that won't be missed if it isn't included. Notice the harmonic continuity these chords have. They all work really well together and we aren't jumping all over the neck. You're going to be using these forever!
