Watch the Minor Mood online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Play Blues Guitar 4: Rhythm Approaches

Minor Mood - Groove 16 is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff McErlain and is sourced from 30 Authentic Blues Grooves You MUST Know.

Minor mood is a nice minor blues variation with some cool changes to spice things up a bit on the turnaround. The I chord is Bbm, to the IV which is Ebm so standard stuff so far. The change comes at the turnaround Gb9 which is the bVI chord to F7#9 which is the V chord. This turnaround is quite common on a minor blues. "The Thrill is Gone" by B.B. King uses this change. Right before the turnaround I put in a classic line on the I minor chord. Bm, BmMaj7, Bm7, to Bm6. The cool thing here is the descending line contained in the chords. BTW, this can also be heard in Zep's "Stairway To Heaven", and the Beatles "Michelle" and "Something".
