Marco Cohen Rides Again - Performance is a video guitar lesson presented by David Hamburger and is sourced from Essentials: Fingerstyle Blues.

One notion that I picked up over time is that you don't always have to finger and play all the notes of a chord, particularly when you're playing fingerstyle. Marco Cohen Rides Again gets much of its bluesy vibe from leaving off the top string of the basic D chord shape. That leaves a chord made up of just roots and fifths, which is a starker sound than a full D major voicing. Combine that with the b7ths we're adding in at the first fret of the second string and the 3rd fret of the fifth string, and it's off to the juke joint. Our G chord voicing also avoids the major third by replacing the open B string with a D (the fifth of G) at third fret of the second string.
