Watch the A7 Improv: Minor Form online guitar lesson by Pat Martino from The Nature of Guitar
The next two forms that I'm going to demonstrate are a minor 7th chord and a dominant 7th chord with a b13 and a b9. In this lesson, I'll show you how to build upon the concepts from the previous lesson and apply it to this environment. In doing so, we'll discover the application of consonant versus dissonance.
By using the minor application in two different ways, we're able to achieve a movement from consonance to dissonance. We'll also discover the importance of the tritone in this application.
