Watch the Lydian: Petty Cash online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from 30 Modal Progressions You MUST Know

"Petty Cash" is our first Lydian progression in the key of C with a tonal center at the IV chord, F. This progression is a IV - I - V - I progression and uses the chords F5/2 - C - G - C.

Tempo wise, it grooves along nicely at 105 BPM and the bass tom heavy drums add some nice moody texture to this piece. Try improvising over this progression targeting the F chord using the F Lydian Mode (C major scale). Also try F and C major pentatonics and their relative minors too.
