let me tell you about an audience. They're not going to accept your panic. They've got enough of their own. Your broken heart? They can see your broken heart and they can heal it. They say, "don't be sad, I love you." It's powerful. Give the audience the power to heal you.

Sometimes when I've been traveling I'll be at a performance exhausted and confused and I'll be on stage and just feel this weight bearing down on me as I walk up to the mic but as the show goes on, I feel better and better. Eventually, as the show ends, I feel relief and sometimes I share with the audience "You know, when I got here tonight, I was so tired. I've been traveling a lot and I was so weak and tired, and I was so fearful that I wouldn't have enough for you. But I've been here now for an hour and a half, and you have loved me and lifted me and restored me, and now I feel so good about. I want to thank you for that beautiful gift. I love you so much." If you tell an audience that, they'll say "It's my pleasure, anytime."
