Watch the String Bending online guitar lesson by Larry Carlton from 335 Blues
There are many different ways to bend strings, and doing it well can help you establish a style and sound that is uniquely your own. As you work through the next handful of bending exercises, notice how many sounds are available depending on the bend technique used.
You can bend a half step, a whole step, a minor 3rd (step and half) and you can bend more and you can bend less. You can pick a note and then bend up, or you can "pre-bend" a note, which sounds like you're bending down instead. You'll also find that the tone and feeling changes based on which string, which finger and which fret you're using.
