Watch the Space And Motifs online guitar lesson by Larry Carlton from 335 Blues
Time to put these motif and space ideas to work! In the first video, I'm using the concepts we've been discussing over a nice, slow blues. Notice how I pace this like a conversation. We're developing motifs, thinking in smaller phrases, and allowing lots of wide-open space between phrases.
In the second video, I'm jamming out with the same equipment I used on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" and "Don't Take Me Alive."
This original Gibson 335 and Fender Deluxe amp of mine has done right by me all these years! Watch the video to see how I set up my sound on those tracks. Then we get rocking with the same tone over a chorus of Bb blues.
