Let's jazz things up a bit with this C blues. You can look at the PDF to see which chords I've used, but the real message here isn't just about expanding your chord vocabulary. It's about the importance of making sure that your chord selections work well together, and within the context of the tune, both rhythmically and melodically.
When using jazzier voicings - raised 9's, 13's, raised 5's - you risk the danger of sounding like you're playing a mish-mosh of complicated chords unless you string them together melodically. Don't just think about which chord will "fit." Instead, try to establish a melodic context to connect your chord selections with.
