Watch the Swing in A online guitar lesson by Johnny Hiland from Ten Gallon Guitar: Intros, Outros & Turnarounds

Now we're going to play some Western swing in the key of A. This is a license for a guitar player to have some fun, and if you're a chicken picker, you're bound to love Western swing.

On the front of this, you're going to get five beats. This progression is really twisted: It's a 44-16-25-16-25-11. Whew! Now, most the time in Western swing you're going to learn it off a record to begin with, so you already know the progression, but I wanted to add this section to the course because I wanted you to think about these changes and get used to them.

Another thing to point out is in the first 44, the second 4 is diminished. This is more for ear training just as much as learning the licks and approaching the progression. Let's get started!
