We are going to simplify everything ...Once you have the triads down and can play them over the changes, then use the half step approach to play over the chord changes. Spend time on this and really internalize the concepts. If you can get this approach down, your playing will jump to the next level. As reitarated during the video (starting at 14:28), once you have the triads down, the actual solo will make more sense and be easier to play.
