Again, I recommend learning the solo in small chunks and then tying it all together. Don't sweat it if you can't ʺnailʺ the dead thumb part of the solo (at 3:04) right away. You should still be able to play a good sounding version without employing the thumb. But give it a try as you may surprise yourself and this great sounding technique to have under your belt. Also, be sure to spend adequate time getting the E7 "hot lick" triad down (at 5:30 on the video) as this is a versatile lick that you can move to other positions while improvising.
