Watch the Awful Pretty, Pretty Awful: 1 online guitar lesson by Jim Campilongo from Sonic Tele
For the intro sweep picking section remember to use the following pattern of Down, Down, Down, Up. Following the sweep picking, you will be playing descending 6ths. It is recommended that you learn the parts in small, doable chunks before tying them together. This will allow you to internalize the various melodies while getting your hands trained. Give yourself a chance to learn it! For the rhythm section you will learn two separate approaches. The first rhythm approach (inspired by Luther Perkins and starting at 3:20 in the video) requires you to use a pick when playing each string. The next demonstration on how to play the rhythm section (starting at 4:45) requires a hybrid picking approach with an alternating bass line. This approach will give you some added control over your right hand and is also useful in numerous playing contexts.
