Couple of words about some of the licks. If you play 1-b3-5-b7 of a pentatonic scale, it also happens to outline a minor 7 chord. So, some players, particularly Pat Martino, do the same thing we're talking about here, and call it converting to minor. Different name, same stuff. If you look at the lick at say 1:32, I'm outlining a little m9th arpeggio 1-b3-5-b7 and 9 (borrowed from the major pentatonic if you will). Add in some chromatics, play your line in one, two, or even three octaves, one after the other (lick, move down an octave, same lick, move down one more octave, same lick again) and you're heading into MartinoLandia! Also, at 2:12, I play a classic old Martino Lick. Difficult but so sassy!
