Watch the Adding Chromatics from 5th to 7th online guitar lesson by Fareed Haque from Soul Jazz Survival Guide

You may have noticed that often I will play the same lick in 2 or even 3 different octaves on the neck. Often the only thing you need to do to build a longer jazzy line is simply string together the same lick in 2 or 3 octaves. This is a method Pat Martino uses all the time. So, when you hear one of his long mind-bending lines, often it's the same lick played in 3 different octaves and connected with chromatics.
