Watch the Up a Step: Further Extensions online guitar lesson by Kenny Wessel from Shades of Jazz

I'm playing over an A-7 vamp in this section, and I'm using a B minor pentatonic scale to bring out some of the upper extensions of the minor seventh chord (9, 11, and 13). I'll also play an A minor pentatonic, so we can hear the difference between the two scale choices. Listen carefully between the two modes, as they might sound a bit similar, but the minor pentatonic up a step will add some interest and upper extensions to your minor seventh chords.
