Now let's play together over an II-V-I progression and experiment with these major and minor triads as altered dominants. The track is a four-bar progression with one bar D-7, one bar G7b913), and two bars CMaj7 (an II-V7alt-I progression). Over the D-7, we can play a D dorian mode or a D minor pentatonic scale; over the G7altered, we can play an E major triad, or an Ab minor triad; and we can resolve to CMaj7 by using a C major scale (ionian), A minor pentatonic, or even B minor pentatonic (for a C Lydian sound).
