Watch the BeBop Lick online guitar lesson by Tom Dempsey from Jazz Scales Handbook
To close out this course, we're going to learn a musical idea derived from the Bebop Major scale. This will be played over a II-V-I in C Major. You'll notice with the presence of the chromaticism, the sound of this line melodically and rhythmically lends itself to the sonic identity of bebop. We're just scratching the surface here with this idea, but, by incorporating this sound into your playing, you're on your way to broadening your improvisational palette.
