Watch the Solo Breakdowns online guitar lesson by Gil Parris from NYC Rhythm & Blues

Continuing on with the idea of some outside lines, I'm going to give you real insight into the way I think of these 4th's lines and add a lot of chromaticism to see how I utilize them in a tasteful way. Also I'll give you some insight into my fingerstyle technique and the way I kind of make these things pop.
Another articulation device I like to use is the strumming with my thumb and moving notes in between different notes. Check out this organ style idea that I use to build tension. It's a really cool articulation idea and can build a band to a climax. I'll also discuss some of the other rhythmic things I utilize during the comping section, such as two-note ideas and some different triads that can be used over one static chord.
