As an educator, Bruce Arnold has taught at some of the most prestigious music schools in America, including the New England Conservatory of Music, Dartmouth College, Berklee College of Music, Princeton University, New York University, New School University, City College of New York. Mr. Arnold is also the director of the New York University Summer Guitar Intensive, a program focusing on advanced improvisational skills. Throughout this series Bruce will be discussing the importance of ear training and taking you through various techniques to improve your own ear. In the first two videos, Bruce will discuss training your ear the correct way, along with some of the methods he’s learned, and methods for beginners who are just starting to develop their ear. In the application section he’ll do a basic demonstration of recognizing chords and scales in a I-IV-V blues setting, and how these methods can be a powerful tool in a live band setting.
