Pete McCann has been an integral part of the New York City jazz scene for 25 years. He has released four critically acclaimed CDs as a leader; Extra Mile (Nineteen-Eight), Most Folks (Omnitone), Parable and You Remind Me of Someone (Palmetto). A sought-after sideman from duos to big bands, he has appeared on over 80 CDs. McCann has performed with Kenny Wheeler, Dave Liebman, Lee Konitz, Patti Austin, Brian Blade, Bobby Previte and the Maria Schneider Orchestra. He received his music degree from the University of North Texas and teaches at City College of New York and the New School in New York City.
The focus of this workshop is parent scales and how to apply them over standard chord changes. The parent scales he will be covering are the major scale, the harmonic minor scale, melodic minor scale, and lydian scale. He'll break each of these down individually and then at the end of the workshop he will demonstrate all three scales over chord changes that you are probably already familiar with.
