Here's another two-bar idea for the C7 chord, consisting of a solid major blues move in the lower register, followed by a highly-syncopated dominant blues lick in the traditional bar position. Because these ideas are rooted in the chord itself and not just the C blues scale, they become powerful statements that can be manipulated and/or transposed to the IV (F7) and V (G7) chords of the key. We'll talk about using them as basic blues themes for the many creative variations that are possible.
