Watch the I Chord: H2 online guitar lesson by Mark Stefani from Jazzed Blues Assembly Lines
One more solid move for the C7 chord, this time a shorter phrase based on the dominant blues sound. It opens with a pickup ala Benson, involving the 6th (A) before moving into another use of chromaticism when applied to blues. This one also features some dynamic and unusual interval skips, which makes the overall lick even more attractive in a solo context. As with the previous examples that utilized major and dominant licks, this example can be creatively manipulated and transposed to other chords.
