Watch the Root, 5th & 9th Pentatonics online guitar lesson by Fareed Haque from Jazz Rock Workshop
In this section I will introduce the basic principle of how to play multiple minor pentatonics over a minor chord.
The idea is simple. Play pentatonics built on the root, 5th or ninth of the minor chord. So for Am7 you could play and Am pentatonic, Em pentatonic or Bm pentatonic. Be sure to add in the additional notes (Maj3, Maj7, blue note, etc) to each of the superimposed pentatonics.
