Watch the Caravan online guitar lesson by Mimi Fox from Jazz Performance

When arranging a challenging piece for solo guitar, you have to be creative and think outside the box. In this case, because I want the chromatic bass movement to stay constant throughout the melody, and I also want to create more harmony with a pedal point, I use the high "B" string to create my pedal point which is unusual. The note I select, the Bb, is the b7 of the C7 chord so it adds a nice bite to the melody while also fleshing out the harmony. I probably could've used the open "G" string as well but I thing the b7 has more attitude and I selected it for this reason.
