You can explore this idea in your own soloing by recording yourself playing the chords very slowly and then playing lines over what you just played. If the tempo is slow enough, you will be able to start using this concept. I do this a lot in my TrueFire course, "Graduated Solos". This is also part of thematic development which makes a solo really memorable.
