Watch the Stella by Starlight online guitar lesson by Mimi Fox from Jazz Performance
In my True Fire course, "Flying Solo", I use this concept a lot since it is great for solo guitar playing just as it sounds great in a guitar trio concept. It can still work in an ensemble with piano if the pianist is sensitive and knows how to play with guitar. The trick is to build your melodies on the top two strings and to practice very slowly in your own practicing so you can take your time and get the hang of it. It's a good idea to practice chordal voice leading with common progressions like Major/Minor Two/Five/One, Blues progressions, etc. This will prepare you for playing entire songs this way.
