Watch the Picking Techniques online guitar lesson by Andreas Oberg from Jazz Combustion

For part 2, Andreas covers Gypsy picking, a combination of the two techniques. With this technique, moving from string to string follows the downstroke rule of sweep picking when playing ascending phrases, using alternate strokes when encountering two consecutive notes on the same string. When playing descending passages, this technique dictates that only downstrokes are used, although alternate picking is sometimes employed when two adjacent notes occur on a single string.
