Watch the i IV Progression online guitar lesson by Frank Vignola from Inversion Excursion

Ah yes, the classic Evil Ways chord progression. A min to D dominant 7. A great progression and now we have a zillion ways to approach this great classic chord progression. We start with A minor triads moving to D dominant 7th chords in all positions. Start with A minor triad in root position and move to D dominant 7th in close proximity to the A minor triad as shown in video segment. Then you can move on to A min 7 to D dominant 7th or D dominant 9. Experiment with all the extended chord types.
You can start with open position Am to open D7 then move on to all the other inversions. START WITH THE TRIADS because once again this is the basis for all the extended chords. Check out the different rhythms once you go through all the inversions. Listen to classic recordings and steal the rhythms of the greats. This not only trains your ear but this will allow you to put another great rhythm guitar part in your tool box to break out at the next jam!!!
Also go through this segment using I major to IV major (A major 7th to D major 7th) and Dominant to Dominant (A7 to D7) or any of the various extended chord substitutions we went over in this course.
