Watch the C7#5 Chords online guitar lesson by Frank Vignola from Inversion Excursion
We start with the C aug triad, C-E-G# and move the chord up major thirds or four frets from the inversion you start on. Visualize the inversion and where it lies on the fingerboard before moving. Then we go over the various inversions learned in the previous segment. Try out all the different rhythms from the different jam tracks. As there are essentially only two augmented chords, you can apply many different jam tracks.
A cool thing to do is move the augmented 7th chord up two frets or in whole steps. Try picking each note individually and tape yourself doing this. Then upon playback starting on the next inversion play the same pattern and this creates harmony. Les Paul and Django play these augmented chords and use them quite effectively.
